Patriots reportedly adding former college assistant to coaching staff

The New England Patriots are reportedly hiring Southern Mississippi running backs coach BJ Edmonds to their staff, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. Edmonds served as a defensive analyst, focusing on the cornerback position at Duke University before his time with Southern Mississippi. He also worked at Utah State University for three seasons as a defensive recruiting analyst and a defensive graduate assistant.

He has experience playing collegiately as a defensive back at Arkansas State University from 2016-2019. This marks another move in what has been a week of staff shakeups for the Patriots. The biggest move came on Tuesday night, as Zak Kuhr was promoted to defensive coordinator.

Former Patriots defensive coordinator Terrell Williams has accepted another high-ranking position on Patriots coach Mike Vrabel's staff, while defensive assistant Vinny DePalma has been promoted to take over Kuhr's previous role as the team's inside linebackers coach.
