Baseball will be back in your life this weekend as the Milwaukee Brewers begin spring training games, though the team's opener Saturday, Feb. 21 will only be available as audio. One of Milwaukee's Feb. 22 games, however, will be free to watch. The Brewers have scheduled 20 spring-training broadcasts on the Brewers Radio Network, and the new Brewers.TV will stream eight games for free.
Games won't air on traditional cable or satellite platforms. The opener against Cleveland on Feb. 21 will air (audio-only) on 620 WTMJ and other stations on the network. Games on Sunday, Feb. 22 against the Chicago White Sox and Monday, Feb. 23 against San Diego will air on Brewers.TV, with the production provided by the opposing teams.
Viewers will need to register an MLB.com account to watch but won't be on the hook for any costs to watch the spring games. The Brewers' Feb. 22 game against Kansas City will air on 94.5 ESPN. Notably, that's a different game than the one airing on TV, with the Brewers competing in a split-squad format that day. Both begin shortly after 2 p.m. CT.
The traditional Brewers broadcast team will make their spring debut on Brewers.TV next weekend, with a Feb. 28 battle against Cincinnati. Brian Anderson, Jeff Levering, Bill Schroeder, Sophia Minnaert, Tim Dillard and Vinny Rottino are the broadcast team. They'll similarly conduct broadcasts March 4 (Chicago Cubs), March 9 (Los Angeles Dodgers) and March 21 (San Diego).
The visiting broadcasts will be available to watch March 18 (Seattle) and March 22 (Chicago Cubs). The Brewers "Spring Breakout" games featuring the organization’s top prospects March 20 and 22 will also stream on Brewers.TV. The team's two exhibition games against the Reds at American Family Field on March 23 and 24 will also air on radio-only, available on 94.5 ESPN and the Brewers Radio Network.
Levering, Lane Grindle and Josh Maurer will be on the call. Eight games during the preseason not already airing on traditional radio will be available audio-only at Brewers.com.
