Mavericks' Jason Kidd offers injury update for rookie Cooper Flagg
Dallas Mavericks rookie forward Cooper Flagg will not play Friday on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a foot injury, coach Jason Kidd said. Flagg was diagnosed with a left midfoot sprain suffered on Feb. 10 during a 120-111 loss to the Phoenix Suns . He leads the rookie class in scoring and has the most 30-point games by a rookie since Victor Wembanyama in the 2023-24 season (7).
The 19-year-old was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for the third straight time. He and Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel are the only two players to win Rookie of the Month this season, beginning in October and November. Flagg was initially expected to be available to play after the All-Star break, but the 6-foot-8 forward will need additional time to recover from the injury.
He will miss his sixth game of the season on Friday against the Timberwolves.
